Stellaris Campus

Stellaris in Latin means star and Campus means field.
The field of the star is linked to the history of the estate, which was once a stopover for pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostela. The Domaine Saint-Jacques is also located in rue Saint jacques.

The story of James the Greater:
Saint James the Greater, one of Jesus’ twelve apostles, died in 44 AD and was taken by his disciples to Spain to hide his body. In 813, a hermit was warned one night by a dream that the apostle’s tomb was not far from his hermitage. A few days later, a strange celestial glow, like a shower of stars, was seen in the same spot. Since then, a church and a village have been built on this spot, and it was the starting point of the pilgrimage and the name given to the village “Compostela”. Compostelle is a contraction of campus, meaning “field”, and stellae, meaning “star”.

The label is adorned with an escutcheon featuring three of the Jacquet’s (pilgrim’s) items of equipment:
– The scallop shell, which serves as a symbol of identification
– The drone, which serves as a staff
– And the besace, a small bag made of animal skin

Stellaris Campus white is made from our best plots of land in Marissou and La Fosse, ideal for producing Chardonnay. Golden in colour, it releases aromas of citrus fruit, white-fleshed fruit, hawthorn and jasmine. As it ages, it will also give off notes of hazelnut and honey. The minerality characterises this wine, but with great finesse.

Stellaris Campus is made from our best plot in Marissou, where the soil is ideal for producing fine Pinots. Dark ruby in colour, it gives off aromas of red berries with silky tannins. With age, the wine develops notes of undergrowth, truffles and leather.
